Housed in a former 17th-century convent, the cheery Hôtel Saint-Dominique provides appealing and brightly decorated rooms within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower.
Rooms feature simple, country-style wooden furnishings and floral or Toile-de-Jouy wallpaper. Since the building isn't exactly new, floors go up and down in a charming way, and corners and nooks reveal themselves in unexpected places.
The hotel has an old-fashioned "country house" air about it. Downstairs is the lively wood-beamed lobby, patio courtyard, and the newly-opened breakfast lounge overlooking the busy pedestrian street. Those who benefit from Eiffel Tower views will also get a bit of the noise from the popular Irish bar right across the street.
If you can catch the long-time reception clerk Jean-Noël when he’s not busy checking guests in or out, his knowledge of all there is to see and do in Paris is unmatched!
