Thank heavens! Three blocks from the Seine, on a quiet street filled with antique stores, the Hotel Saint-Thomas d’Aquin is an unexpectedly good deal. With a subtle, often chic décor, it really qualifies as a budget “boutique” hotel, catering to those who demand a bit of style with their bed.
And style you’ll get at Thomas d’Aquin. The 21 rooms (16 facing the street) are well appointed, decorated with elegant color schemes that would please the art director in everyone. Each floor has its own modern palette—some with yellows, others in greens or maroons. The bedding’s simple color tones are offset nicely by the flashy curtains. Ceiling moldings add another nice decorative touch.
Rooms aren’t huge, but they’re larger than rooms at many more expensive hotels we checked out. Bathrooms are quite small. The lobby and breakfast areas are small but comfy and present some original artwork.
The Thomas d’Aquin is a bit hard to find, the exterior is covered in plants and they cover just about every indication that this is a hotel.
