Thank heavens! Three blocks from the Seine, on a quiet street filled with antique stores, the Hotel Saint-Thomas d’Aquin is an affordable stay. With a subtle, often chic décor, it really qualifies as a budget-friendly “boutique” hotel, catering to those who demand a bit of style with their bed.
The 21 rooms (16 facing the street) are well appointed, decorated with elegant color schemes that would please the art director in everyone. Each floor has its own modern palette—some in yellows, others in greens or maroons. The bedding’s simple color tones are offset nicely by the flashy curtains. Rooms have free Wi-Fi access and safe boxes. Bathrooms are rather small, and have either a tub or shower.
The lobby and breakfast areas are small but comfy and sport some original artwork. The Hotel Saint-Thomas d'Aquin offers breakfast for an un-saintly €11.
Note: The Thomas d’Aquin is a bit hard to find, as the exterior is covered in plants and they cover just about every indication that this is a hotel.

About the Hotel Saint-Thomas d'Aquin neighborhood
Just west of the Latin Quarter in the direction of the Eiffel Tower, St. Germain des Prés is a class act. Located in the 6th arrondissment, St. Germain is flanked by two Parisian gems—the Luxembourg Gardens to the south and the banks of the Seine to the north. The iconic neighborhood borrows its name from the church of St. Germain des Prés. It is defined by the boulevard of the same name, which slices through the quarter’s winding streets. St. Germain's designer fashion boutiques and world famous cafés pack the neighborhood.
St. Germain is the perfect place for unguided walks. Art galleries and swank shops can be found on just about every corner. Everything costs a little bit more here; from cocktails to double rooms, visitors should be prepared for higher rates and pricetags. Nonetheless, St. Germain is home to some moderately expensive (and quite charming) sleeps.
