Du Square D'Anvers is a small family-run hotel in an excellent location, right by the Sacré Coeur and within walking distance of Montmartre. It overlooks a peaceful, leafy garden, the Square D'Anvers, and is an oasis of calm. This is all the more incredible considering that it's just a stone's throw from hectic Boulevard de Rochechouart with its hodgepodge of tourist buses, nightclubs, and ethnic grocery stores.
Rooms are a good size for this hotel type. They are decorated in rich tones of deep orange and saffron and equipped with satellite television, direct telephones, and small, spic-and-span bathrooms. Ask for a sixth floor room overlooking the street to get the 180-degree panoramic views of Paris spanning the Eiffel Tower to the Sacré Coeur.
The entire hotel is non-smoking. The entrance area has a cosy lounge with a television, an Internet station, oriental rugs, potted plants, and dark wood sidetables. The overall impression is quaint, old-fashioned and slightly fussy.
Staying at Du Square D'Anvers is sort of like coming back to Grandma's place after surviving the urban hurly-burly outside. Breakfast, which costs an extra €6.50, is served in a pleasant room filled with natural light from an outdoor courtyard.
