Located just north of the Bourse (Paris's stock exchange) and about 15 minutes by foot from the Louvre, the two-star Hotel Vivienne provides 45 comfortable rooms in a pretty convenient spot.

The Vivienne has two decorative styles: Some rooms are outfitted in modern black and white, while most don a more classic look, with colonial-style furnishings, floral curtains, pink walls and artwork. Regardless, all rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and telephone. Rooms with balconies have lovely blooming flowers but don't offer much privacy (or quiet), as they look out onto the rather busy rue Vivienne.

Tiled bathrooms have tubs, hair dryers and toiletries.

Although popular with business travelers, the Vivienne is a family-friendly hotel, and children under the age of 10 sleep for free.

We were happy to find a Velib’ bike station two steps from the Vivienne’s front door, allowing for very convenient access to the city’s bike-sharing program.

A continental breakfast is served for (a rather steep) €11. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
