Cheap hotels near Place de l'Opera in Paris, France

The Place de l’Opéra is one of Paris’ most prominent squares, its centerpiece the city’s gorgeous Beaux Arts Opéra Garnier. An architectural marvel, replete with gilded ceilings, bejeweled chandeliers and sculptures, the opera house was designed during Napoleon III’s reign and took 15 years to construct.

From Place de l’Opéra, it’s easy to get to most Paris’ central sights. Place Vendôme is just a short walk away and it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Jardins des Tuileries and a bit further to the Louvre. The shops along the Grands Boulevards (Boulevard Haussmann, Rue la Fayette) are just a quick walk northeast of Place de l’Opéra.

The square is central to getting around the city, as the “Opéra” Metro station serves three lines (3, 7, 8) with connections to many more. The city’s Roissybus leaves from the square regularly for Charles de Gaulle airport.

Hotels near Place de l’Opera: We’ve come to love the hotels in the area around the Place de l'Opéra. (We used to find it a bit too busy.) Budget hotel options abound in nearly every direction, with many favorite cheap sleeps a bit south near the Louvre.

Hotels get even more affordable if you head in the direction of the Grands Boulevards, and even cheaper if you continue north toward Montmartre and Place Pigalle. The further you go north, of course, the less central you’ll sleep (although the area is well-served by the Metro).
