Located at the intersection of Paris’ 3rd, 10th and 11th arrondissements, the Place de la République is a major traffic circle and transportation in hub.
At the center of the square stands a national monument, an impressive sculpture by the artist Jules Dalou (1838-1902) depicting the history of France’s current republic. The statue stands 33 feet high.
The Place de la République is located above the République Metro station, a major stop and transfer point for several lines. The area around the square is packed with cafés, restaurants and shops. From the place, you can easily take a walk down the Boulevard du Temple and reach Place de la Bastille.
Hotels near Place de la Republique: The area surrounding the Place de la République is decidedly without much character and charm, but budget hotels do abound. At night, the area continues to buzz, although it may also feel a bit sketchy. We usually recommend hotels a bit further south, in the Marais.
