Cheap hotels near Pont des Arts in Paris, France

A pedestrian bridge, the Pont des Arts crosses the Seine, linking the main square of the Louvre on the Right Bank with the Académie Francaise on the Left.

The arched bridge is made of steel and was originally constructed under Napoleon I’s reign as Emperor, between 1802-1804. In the 1980s, the bridge was reconstructed, as it had suffered significant damage in both World War I and II.

The Pont des Arts is a popular crossing point today, practical for locals and tourists alike. However, it’s practicality is overshadowed by its photogenic and "hip" qualities. These draw tourists in swarms to hang out, propose, enjoy picnics, listen to music, and just “chill.”

For years, romantic types have demonstrated their affections by locking padlocks to the bridge. Controversy has recently ensued over the city’s decision to remove the locks. (A similar trend--and recent controversy--has occurred at the Ponte Vecchio in Florence).

Hotels near Pont des Arts: Budget-friendly hotels can be found on both sides of the Pont des Arts. To the north, on the Right Bank just past the Louvre, you’ll find plenty of hotel options in our “Near the Louvre” neighborhood. South of the pont, on the Left Bank, there are plenty of cheap sleeps to be found in both the Latin Quarter and St. German des Prés.

One of the closest hotels to the “pont” is the long-time EuroCheapo favorite, Hotel de Nesle, situated on a tiny street in St. Germain des Prés.
