Intro to Pisa

Most people know Pisa for its famous tower, but that is certainly not the only reason to visit the city. Pisa's heyday was as a Mediterranean power in the Middle Ages, and its medieval character shows through in buildings like those on the Piazza dei Miracoli. Astronomer Galileo Galilee was born here in 1564 and later taught at the university. Pisa also is not far from the Italian coast.
