The family-run Pension U Lilie, or Penision "At The Lily," lies one block from the Charles Bridge, just up the street from King George's House. Those who prize a central location above all will totally dig this pad. During our last inspection, we noted that the green parrot in the lobby was growing a bit cantankerous. Otherwise the Lilie is as bustling as ever.
Both a restaurant and a pension, the Lilie offers "original Czech-style cooking over a lava-grill." The owners seem just as proud of this as they are of their simply furnished 17-room pension.
Rooms are very plain with furniture that's a bit dated. They come in a plethora of price categories, the cheapest share facilities in the hall. Every room has a minibar, so you can start the party as soon as you walk in the door.
In summer months, the restaurant transforms the hotel courtyard into a "garden cafe." Those concerned about noise should note that it stays open to the public from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
