The Hotel Centra just might be the best three-star deal in the Old Town. Located along Audeju iela in the heart of the Old Town, the Centra offers rooms with modern décor and packed with amenities at reasonable rates.
We spent two nights (undercover) at the Centra during a January 2009 visit to Riga. Our room was quite spacious, and was furnished with a leather armchair, desk area, walk-in closet, cable TV, telephone, and minibar. Modern artwork hung above the bed, and the room was spot-lit for extra effect. The bathroom featured attractive modern mosaic tiling, a walk-in shower (and bathtub). The room overlooked the back, and offered rooftop views.
And that was just a single. Double rooms feature the same amenities and design finesse, but are quite a bit larger—and most offer romantic street-side views of the Old Town (double-paned windows keep things quiet).
A generous breakfast buffet is served in the stone-walled downstairs dining area, and is included in the rate. The entire hotel is non-smoking. Wifi is offered throughout the hotel for free.

About the Centra neighborhood
The "Old Town" is the medieval heart of Riga, a maze of winding cobblestone streets, stony churches, and public squares. Most of the city’s main tourist sights are located inside the Old Town, including the Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, House of the Blackheads, Parliament, and the city’s Castle.
The Old Town is unsurprisingly also home to a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels. We focused our hotel hunting on properties inside the Old Town, as this is the middle of the action. During peak summer months, the streets will be noisy with nighttime revelers, so light sleepers may wish to ask for rooms off the street—or in another neighborhood.
