The Riga Student Hostel, formerly known as "ProfitCamp," is a busy, very basic, hostel located in the Old Town behind the glitzy Galleria Shopping Center.
The hostel provides 150 beds in 20 rooms on six floors (no elevator). Rooms run the gamut from dorm rooms (sleeping 6-24), to private single, doubles, triples and quads, all with shared bathrooms. The hostel's entrance is through a residential courtyard, and the reception is located on the first floor.
The private rooms we saw were pretty small and stark, furnished only with a metal-frame bed, dresser, mirror, table, chair and lamp. Dorm rooms offer a bit less, although linens are provided at the reception. Shared baths seemed relatively fresh. Rooms look out to either the courtyard or surrounding streets.
The Riga Student Hostel is entirely non-smoking. A light breakfast is included in the room rate, and the hostel offers a free Internet station and free W-Fi in the reception area. A guest kitchen is open to all guests, as is the hostel’s laundry facility.
Note: As with most other student lodgings, the hostel can be loud at night.

Old Town, Riga, Latvia
About the Riga Student Hostel neighborhood
The "Old Town" is the medieval heart of Riga, a maze of winding cobblestone streets, stony churches and public squares. Most of the city’s main tourist sights are located here, including the Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, House of the Blackheads, Parliament and the Castle. The Old Town is unsurprisingly also home to a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops and hotels.
