The three-star Alimandi Hotel sits on a sunny corner, mere minutes from the entrance to the Vatican museums. The city's hottest ticket has lines for miles, so the close proximity comes in handy.
The owners, brothers Paolo and Germano, are travelers themselves, and some of their global passion is reflected in the décor. Around the corner from the reception, you'll find a bar dressed up in medieval Spanish style with a neo-classical Roman lounge. And giant Peruvian artwork decorates the billiard room walls.
The Alimandi's 35 airy rooms, filled with natural light, are decorated in a cool palette of colors with polished floors. Sparkling clean bathrooms come with a magnifying makeup mirror, and all but five rooms have bathtubs.
Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace irrespective of the weather, as the terrace is outfitted with a retractable roof covering. And the breakfast buffet should not go without mention: it's one of the most bountiful we've encountered.
The hotel has a sister property, the Hotel Alimandi Viale Vaticano, which is located around the corner. Both Alimandi Hotels are splurges, but well worth the extra Euros.
