The Hotel Gabriella is a pleasant three-star property in the hotel-heavy neighborhood north of Termini Station. It’s located a brisk five- to 10-minute walk up via Milazzo, on the second floor of a large building that’s home to several other hotels.
Quick read...
Pros: Central location. Friendly staff. Decent value.
Cons: Street noise. Dated and a little rundown. Charges for “extras,” like Wi-Fi and a TV remote. Air conditioning is only available in the summer months.
Rooms
The Gabriella’s 23 rooms are neatly presented, but the heavy, old-fashioned curtains and bedding could do with a bit of sprucing up. All rooms are equipped with standard amenities, including a minibar, telephone and cable TV (note that a €20 deposit is required for use of the television remote control).
Soundproof windows are a plus, but since the busy neighborhood can be quite rowdy rooms may still pick up some noise. Air conditioning is available during the summer months only (usually starting in June).
The private bathrooms are clean and simple. Basic toiletries and a hair dryer are provided.
Hotel
The Hotel Gabriella’s reception area is somewhat claustrophobic, but there is a comfortably sized TV lounge, plus a separate dining room down the hall. Décor in the common areas is relatively unremarkable, but a few touches of color (check out the bright red chandelier in reception!) add a bit of flair.
Wi-fi is free for the first 30 minutes, and afterward a cost applies depending on how long you use it (starting at €1 for 30 minutes). Breakfast is not always included in the room rate (check when booking). The hotel has an elevator and is non-smoking.
Guest reviews in brief
Overall, guests find that the Hotel Gabriella is a decent value. Guest are usually complimentary about the breakfast and the efficiency of the hotel staff. The convenient location also seems to be a major draw.
Since Rome can get quite hot even in the spring, some guests complain that air conditioning is unavailable outside the summer months. Many find the rooms to be small and that the area can get noisy, both of which are standard issues for Rome.

About the Hotel Gabriella neighborhood
The largely residential area north of Stazione Centrale Termini is both convenient and affordable. Trains heading to Fumincino airport and across Italy depart from this massive station, the front of which is also a major bus and metro stop. Although not the most picturesque neighborhood in central Rome, lots of hotel competition can often mean good rates. The area is always crowded and sometimes a little seedy.
