Hotel Nerva

If you are looking for a hotel near the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill, the three-star Hotel Nerva offers one of the most convenient locations in Rome. It’s tucked away down a cobblestoned street and surrounded by the remains of Rome’s original splendor.

The 19 guest rooms at the Hotel Nerva are comfortable and clean and will appeal to anyone who likes a little gilt with their peach paint. In addition to an attractive color scheme, expect air conditioning, a TV and minibar.

All rooms have a private bathroom (note that while most bathrooms are in the room, a few rooms have private facilities located in the hall). Bathrooms are equipped with a hair dryer and toiletries.

Although the building that houses the family-run Hotel Nerva has been completely renovated, it retains some great original features from its palazzo days (including intricate floors and brick-and-beamed ceilings). The entrance hall is a testament to mock-empirical grandeur, with pseudo columns, frescoes, lamps and vases. There is a bar in the reception area, along with a cozy seating area where free Wi-Fi is available.

When it comes to location, the Hotel Nerva can’t be beat. There’s a crumbling ruin around every corner, even if the views are obstructed by a magnificent ancient wall that runs parallel to the hotel. The Colosseum is a five-minute walk away, and the Metro, historic center, bus routes and bohemian quarter of Monti are all nearby.
