If you love antiques, then you've just hit the jackpot. The 12-room Hotel Suisse, perched on the third floor of an old patrician palace near the Spanish Steps, is filled with them. You'll find elegant dark wood specimens scattered throughout the lobby, the pretty sitting room, airy hallways, and nicely sized rooms. In fact, the only place you won't find antiques is in the bathrooms, which are modern, white, and clean.
The Hotel Suisse has been run by the same family since 1921. (And, yes, they originally came from Switzerland.) Service is very professional. And despite the nod to 19th-century décor, the hotel does offer modern conveniences such as an Internet station and elevator.
Satellite TV and air-conditioning are available (for a fee of €10) in all but two of the rooms (these have ceiling fans and no TV). Breakfast is served in guest rooms, free coffee and tea are available in the afternoon, and the hotel can arrange transfer from the airport.
