Located just north of Termini Station, the Independence Square Inn is a family-run B&B with spotless rooms and a restaurant and coffee bar.
The Independence Square Inn offers 10 gleaming, white-tiled rooms, seven of which have private bathrooms. The bedroom walls are a pristine white, the windows are large and the beds made of wrought iron. Vibrant orange curtains clash wonderfully with the blue bedding.
Rooms are what we’d call “amenity-lite,” but those with a private bathroom are equipped with a mini-fridge. The bathrooms are modern, tiled and very clean, and toiletries are available upon request.
The Independence Square Inn is situated on the top two floors of an apartment building, with a restaurant and coffee bar downstairs. (Note to Cheapos: Guests of the B&B receive 10 percent off of a meal in the restaurant.)
Breakfast is included in the rate, and free Wi-Fi is available in the common spaces and some guest rooms. The Inn is completely non-smoking. Note that there is no elevator at the Independence Square Inn.

About the Independence Square Inn B&B neighborhood
The largely residential area north of Stazione Centrale Termini is both convenient and affordable. Trains heading to Fumincino airport and across Italy depart from this massive station, the front of which is also a major bus and metro stop. Although not the most picturesque neighborhood in central Rome, lots of hotel competition can often mean good rates. The area is always crowded and sometimes a little seedy.
