A member of the German ACHAT chain, the four-star ACHAT Plaza zum Hirschen offers 62 large and cushy rooms with appealing amenities, such as a fancy rooftop spa. If you want luxury in a lively urban area where you can experience a different side of Salzburg, then this is an ideal splurge.
The hotel was built from an old farmhouse, but the interior has been modernized to ensure maximum comfort. Spacious rooms, with AC, minibar, movies and satellite TV (including a 24-hour Sound of Music channel!), are stately with cream-colored walls, hardwood floors and fluffy white comforters. Bathrooms have everything you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber, and a few are absolutely enormous with Jacuzzi-sized tubs.
The Stube restaurant in the lobby serves traditional Austrian food and a huge buffet breakfast (for an extra charge). Other highlights at the Plaza zu Hirschen are a rooftop spa with a sauna, solarium, steam bath and outdoor deck. Wheelchair accessible rooms are available.

About the ACHAT Plaza zum Hirschen Salzburg neighborhood
Elisabeth-Vorstadt is convenient for those arriving by train, as most of the neighborhood's hotels are located within a few blocks of the station. While the Hauptbahnhof area—with its vulgar melange of lousy döner stands and places with names like CINEPLEXX—is an insult to everything beautiful about Salzburg, it is easily avoided.
