Pension Lechner is a midrange option, located 500 meters south of the Hauptbahnhof. It offers 19 comfortable rooms that gravitate more toward elegance than cutesiness—something uncommon in the Salzburg Cheapo scene.
Now this is budget elegance, to be sure, but the furnishings give the high-ceilinged spaces a quaint, antique feel. Rooms are outfitted in dark wooden furniture, lacy curtains, dried flowers, and peach-colored walls. All have cable TV and most have minibars.
There's a kitchenette in almost every room, and all bathrooms are en suite. Rooms in the front overlook a section of Rainerstrasse that just escapes the sketchiness of the Hauptbahnhof.
The Lechner makes a good base for exploring Salzburg by foot, as it's not far from Right Bank attractions like Mirabellgarten and the Mozarteum. The restaurant in the lobby serves traditional specialities; the bar is open until 4 a.m. Non-smoking rooms are offered. |
