Santorini neighborhoods

Center: Fira

Fira is located on the northern end of Santorini's largest island. Although it's a central town, accommodations here are an ample hike uphill from the western shore. Transportation options include riding a donkey or taking a cable car into town.

The nearest beach is a mile and a half away at Gialos, on the eastern shore. Ferries between Santorini and nearby Greek islands come and go from Ormos Athinios, the port a mile and a half south of Fira. Santorini's airport is located two miles southeast from Fira.

Kamari

Kamari is located in the southwest portion of Santorini's largest island, Thira. The area is marked by pebbled beaches and provides easy access, via ferry, to other port towns in Santorini. There's also an easy-to-use bus system for quick trips to Fira. The main airport is three kilometers (less than two miles) away.

Karteradhos

Karterados is located a mile west of Santorini's main airport and a short distance from the central town of Fira. Iconic white houses with blue-domed roofs dot the hills here. Karterados Beach is a mile east of the town center, Ormos Athinios ferries arrive from and depart to other Greek islands, is a mile southwest on the Mediterranean Sea.
