It was our hungry stomachs that first sought out the Doña Lina restaurant, where they serve typical Andalusian fare like paella, bull's tail stew, rabbit, and shrimp. The menu del día was a bit on the pricey side for us (€20) so we passed. Instead, we scoped out the economic two-star hotel upstairs. Antonio and Juan, two staff members, tore themselves away from the Madrid soccer game on the radio to show us around. We took it to heart.
Rooms are typical Andalusian with tiles on most walls, dark-wood furnishings, and blue linens. It was obvious that whoever decorated the place took the masculine, no-frills approach. Four rooms of the eight have balconies overlooking the narrow walkways that make Seville's Jewish quarter famous. The other rooms are interior with windows that look directly into the elegant dining room downstairs.
The location of this hotel is the most important feature, as well as the high-end grub downstairs. We approve, and so do a pair of German and American couples, who come back year after year.
