Hotel Londres is a safe option for people who don't play hard at night. And although the hotel staff only speaks minimal English, they definitely pride themselves on remembering faces and keeping the place secure. Tranquila (that is, peaceful) seems to be the right word to describe this airy, three-story accommodation compared with the tourist-trodden hotels in the saturated Santa Cruz neighborhood.
The hotel is situated in the area known as El Arenal, which is south of the Cathedral and about a pleasant 15-minute walk past cafés and restaurants near El Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) and five to ten minutes to the Plaza de Toros. The river is a short walk to the south. If you're hopping on the bus, it's one of the closest hotels to the Nueva Estación (New Station) that we recommend.
The hotel keeps up with the times by frequently refurbishing and renovating (there are new bathrooms, as well as new furniture) and a fruity peach paint job. The two downstairs rooms are nice, with high ceilings, but they're near the reception and we fear noise. Request an upstairs room.

About the Londres neighborhood
There are fewer tourists in El Arenal than in Seville's other central districts, and that's part of the neighborhood's appeal. As one might expect from a less touristy 'hood, El Arenal is not the city's most popular zone for nightlife. That said, cafés and restaurants are abundant. The neighborhood is the city's bullfighting hub, and La Maestranza, a sizeable bullring, is a main draw. El Arenal is a great place to absorb the local vibe and take advantage of good restaurants. On the edge of El Arenal is the Museo de Bellas Artes.
