For a hotel with just one star, the Hotel Maestranza sure is tasteful. The neighborhood is safe and picturesque, and rates aren't unattractive either. Guests will walk away feeling they've found a bargain.
All but two of the rooms (there are 18 in all) have balconies, an extremely rare balcony-to-room ratio in Seville. Double-glass sliding doors keep out street noise. The bathrooms, many of which also have balconies, are large and include a small ceramic wine and beer cooler and a tub with a powerful showerhead. Located on a quiet residential street, it's an easy 5- to 10-minute walk to all the tourism biggies such as the bullring, the Cathedral, and Plaza Nueva.
There is a computer downstairs with Internet access for guests to use free of charge, but it's incredibly slow.

About the Hotel Maestranza neighborhood
Centro is, not surprisingly, Seville's hub. Plazas San Francisco and Nueva anchor the neighborhood. Shopping streets, churches, museums, restaurants, cafes, and boutiques are plentiful. One highlight is the Museo de Bellas Artes—or Fine Arts Museum—with its outstanding collection of the works of Murillo, Valdés Leal, Zurbarán, and other Sevillean masters. For visitors who must feel as if they're at the center of the action, El Centro is the place to be. Because it's so in demand, it's also not cheap. Hotels, hostals, and restaurants are all a bit more expensive in El Centro. Other hallmarks: loud cathedral bells, an absence of Internet cafés, and the obligatory Starbucks.
