Brothers Carlos and Javier run the Hotel San Francisco—the most tasteful hotel in town, as long as you have a penchant for attractive antiques. You won't find Frette towels or Ikea sofas here, but rather a 19th-century wood sink stand in the bathroom (room No. 15), original moldings and wood doors, Baroque bedside tables, and an impressive 19th-century coat rack in the hotel's entry.
The building is an 18th century palace that's been reformed into a one-star hotel with 17 rooms. A few of these (No. 31 and No. 33) are located on a terrace with private entrances and uninterrupted views of the Cathedral. These are our favorites with large windows and aerial views of the city.
What most double bedrooms lack in space, they more than make up for with large wood armoires and big tubs. Glass-encased balconies draped with heavy fabric take up an entire wall in one double (room No. 15) room, and there's even a small balcony in the bathroom. Bedding is thick and heavy.
Both brothers speak English and are keen on making sure you have a great stay.
