The large Hotel Monte Triana breaks from the Sevillian hotel norm, both in sheer size—it has a whopping 116 rooms—and in its location, west of the Guadalquiver River. By Seville standards, this three-star hotel in the Triana neighborhood is a bit of a trek from the city center, but it’s well suited for those looking to delve into the city’s “ceramics capital.”

The Monte Triana’s guestrooms here are standard midrange hotel fare. The white walls, wooden floors and padded headboards may not be artful, but rooms are spotless and equipped with air conditioning, a minibar, safe, TV, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Plus there’s a pillow menu for any “princess and the pea” travelers. All bathrooms are private and equipped with cosmetic mirror and hair dryer.

The hotel offers all the business-class bells and whistles, including meeting rooms and an on-site restaurant and bar. There is also a parking garage on-site, for an additional charge. Breakfast is sometimes included in the room rate (check when booking).

In addition to a lively flamenco culture and some ancient churches, Triana is home to one of the city’s oldest ceramics factories and some of its best ceramics shopping. The south side, along Avenide de la Republica, is accessible by tram, but it’s also worth making the journey to city center on foot. The walk along and across the river (over the gorgeous Puente de Isabel II) takes about 25 minutes and is quite picturesque.
