The Oasis Backpackers Hostel offers simple rooms, low rates and a fun vibe, complete with a complimentary “welcome drink.” Located just off Plaza de Encarnacion, it also offers a front-row seat to the goings-on of Seville’s latest architectural gem, the newly opened—and already iconic—Metropol Parasol.
The hostel offers basic doubles as well as four-, six- and eight-bed dorms. Double rooms are furnished with nightstands and closets, and dorms come with bunk beds. All rooms have marble floors and lockers, but no other amenities. Some of the hostel’s rooms boast stunning views of the Plaza de Encarnacion. Do note, though, that despite soundproof windows, these can get loud on weekend nights.
Bathrooms are clean and bright. Some doubles have private bathrooms, while others share facilities.
The bright, leafy first-floor lobby/patio, furnished with a cushy sofa and chairs, is a great place to hang out. The roof terrace is outfitted with a grill, an above-ground swimming pool and wooden tables and chairs, but our favorite feature of this “oasis in the sky” was the spectacular view of the Metropol Parasol (see below). We were blown away by the sight of this undulating, ultra-modern “hive.”
An included continental breakfast is served on the roof, in a “glass hut” kitchen with a view of the plaza. The hostel also offers laundry service, bicycle rental and a guest kitchen. Nearby parking is is available for a fee, and smoking is allowed on the terrace only. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
The hostel’s location provides easy access to the Metropol Parasol itself. Originally intended to be a parking garage, Seville’s latest wonder is the result of historical discovery. When garage development unearthed the ruins of a Roman district, it was “goodbye, garage, hello, museum, farmer’s market, community center and gorgeous architectural statement!”

About the Oasis Backpacker's Hostel neighborhood
Centro is, not surprisingly, Seville's hub, anchored by Plazas San Francisco and Nueva and filled with shopping streets, churches, museums, restaurants, cafés. For visitors who must be at the center of the action, this is the place to be. Note, though, that because it's so in demand, it's also not cheap. Other hallmarks: loud cathedral bells, an absence of Internet cafés, and the obligatory Starbucks.
