Upon entering the Hotel un Patio en Santa Cruz, we met a design-savvy guest who raved about the look of the place. She loved the interior patio’s stark whiteness, interrupted only by hanging plants and a bright red sofa and rug. Traditional Seville this two-star hotel is not, but some will find its crisp, modern vibe and amenity-packed rooms a welcome break from the swirls of color that paint the rest of the city.
Eggplant-colored bedspreads and abstract art add color to the hotel’s 13 bright white guestrooms. Air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, minibar, safe, telephone and free Wi-Fi add all the modern conveniences. Some rooms have small balconies. The private bathrooms are clean and modern, and some have a bathtub (request ahead).
Like its sister property, Hotel un Patio al Sur, this sleek spot in a gutted former mansion offers a shiny new look, its white minimalism punctuated by splashes of color in the patio sofas and abstract paintings.

With its warrens of tiny streets and alleys and stunning plazas, Santa Cruz is the Seville of your deepest Andalusian fantasies. In the summer, homeowners compete to see who can create the most beautiful flowerboxes. This is, however, tourist central, so expect company while you're getting lost in Sevillian dreams and tasty (and pricey) tapas.
