Hotel Tegnérlunden is the consummate Scandinavian business hotel. Located in a leafy central hood on the Norrmalm/Vasastaden border, the hotel's street side rooms overlook a small park square. Though Tegnérlunden has been renovated recently, with a new management to boot, there's still a slightly retro feel to the place. Visitors enjoy a tidy, almost staid modernity. All the requisite business hotel facilities (including conference rooms) are covered at Tegnérlunden.
Hotel Tegnérlunden's rooms are of two general types. Recently renovated rooms have hardwood floors, off-white walls, white beds and comforters, and black curtains and chairs. The effect is stylistically impressive but a bit cold. Less recently renovated rooms have a slightly faded, functional glory, with matching blue and orange comforters and curtains set against yellowish wood furniture and tan walls. These rooms are both perfectly serviceable and, somehow, more appealing than their recently renovated cousins. From what we were able to gather, there are no immediate plans to renovate the rest of the hotel's rooms.
Hotel Tegnérlunden's rates enter EuroCheapo-friendly territory on weekends. But even during the week, it represents a good value relative to its business hotel colleagues in Stockholm. When you check in, hope that you have the opportunity to interact with Karl, one of Stockholm's most charming hotel receptionists.
