At first glance, the Kom Hotel appears to be pretty humdrum. Formulaic inside and out, it possesses just a smidgen of the semi-glamorous corporate hotel aesthetic one finds throughout Scandinavia. Kom is not the most inviting hotel of its type. But first impressions, dear cheapos, can be unreliable.
In actuality, Kom Hotel's appeal is not immediately obvious. Kom's newer rooms (renovated in 2001) are located in an adjacent building. They have hardwood floors and a spirited, crisp style. Offered for the same price as the unrenovated rooms, these rooms are a far superior deal.
The division of the hotel into standard hotel and hostel introduces a real price range into the Kom's 128 rooms. This range also means that there are plenty of budget travelers at Kom Hotel that mingle with business travelers and tourists.
