The 2Kronor Vasastan hostel, located on a quiet street near many restaurants and cafés, opened in April 2009, and it shows. The hostel mixes the history of its 18th-century building with new furnishings sporting trendy Scandi design.

Rooms are very clean, have high ceilings, and are basic: don’t expect more than a bedside table and a couple of lamps. Rooms on the top floor have skylights. Each floor has at least one bathroom, all of which are spotless. Vaulted brick ceilings give the shared showers and laundry area a charming medieval feel.

The 2Kronor Vasastan is no frills: Bring your own sheets or rent them, and the reception hours are limited. But the staff is friendly, and the hostel is just a few minutes walk from the Rådmansgatan subway station, which will get you into the center of town in less than five minutes.
