The Lady Hamilton has our vote for the most splurge-worthy pick in Gamla Stan. Just a stone's throw from the Royal Castle and the Church where the Swedish King and Queen were married, the four-star hotel boasts a 15th-century façade and amenities worth the extra kronors.
Rooms reflect the history of the building with antique furnishings, period artwork, and high ceilings. Each room is named after a flower from a particular Swedish province. All rooms have en suite bathrooms and showers, which are spotless and sport heated floors.
In the basement you’ll find a sauna and plunge pool (a former 15th-century well!) A punching bag is also available, perfect for those who want to work up a sweat before cooling off in the sauna…
For women traveling alone, the Lady Hamilton offers a "Lady Kit," a basket of goodies waiting at reception.

About the Lady Hamilton neighborhood
Dating back to the 13th century, Gamla Stan is the original Stockholm and the don't-miss sightseeing zone. It's also fairly convenient, as Gamla Stan bridges bustling Norrmalm to the north and hip Södermalm south. The bulk of Gamla Stan is on the island Stadsholmen, though Riddarholmen—the tiny island just to the west—is usually seen as part of Gamla Stan.
