The 29-room Lord Nelson is a friendly hotel located on Västerlånggatan, one of the busiest streets in Gamla Stan. The three-star hotel is especially popular with an older, business-minded crowd, and rooms are priced accordingly. Rates fluctuate depending on season and time of the week, so planning ahead could make this pick a worthy splurge.
The hotel, unsurprisingly, plays up the nautical theme, and the lobby has a collection of historical artifacts relating to the English Admiral Lord Nelson. Each room boasts a model ship, and all are named after famous vessels or naval captains.
Rooms are small, a fact that the Lord Nelson almost brags about, considering it claims to be "the narrowest hotel in Stockholm," at only six meters wide. Rooms have large windows and wood floors, and the bathrooms, all of which are private, are tiny, but very clean.
Despite the busy street outside, the hotel is very quiet. We think the highlight of the Lord Nelson is the so-called "poop deck" on the upper level. This outdoor area has tables and chairs and offers an amazing view of Stockholm. From all angles, you can see city's church spires.

About the Lord Nelson neighborhood
Dating back to the 13th century, Gamla Stan is the original Stockholm and the don't-miss sightseeing zone. It's also fairly convenient, as Gamla Stan bridges bustling Norrmalm to the north and hip Södermalm south. The bulk of Gamla Stan is on the island Stadsholmen, though Riddarholmen—the tiny island just to the west—is usually seen as part of Gamla Stan.
