Mom, dad, and daughter run the Hotel Al Piave like a tight ship. This 25-room hotel is a short walk from San Marco and a step or two from Campo Santa Maria Formosa. From the moment you enter, quality reigns. Marble floors shine, Fortuny lamps glow, and a team of family and staff stand smilingly at attention.
The small and cozy rooms, though not classic Venetian, exude a sweet attempt at elegance. Shimmery brocades in bold colors dress the bed and windows, and oriental rugs top Venetian tiles. Artwork ranges from classic to modern, with several original works by family friends. Scalloped mirrors and a few antiques thrown in for effect all contribute to an overall attractive feel. Bathrooms are clean, bright and moderrn.
The suites are located just across the courtyard, and sport a warm, country-cottage feel. All in all, the hotel lives up to its three stars and is constantly renovating to keep those stars shining.
Note that there are two classes of rooms: Standard and Superior. |
