This cozy joint, a short walk from San Marco, is a real DYI operation. There's not much service to speak of, as you have your own key, and breakfast is the only provided meal.
Friendly owner Anna will greet you and escort you to one of the Ca' Del Dose's five rooms, each named for a famous Venetian artist and tastefully decorated in classic wood furniture, Oriental-inspired bed frames and colorful adornments. Bathrooms are a bit on the sea cabin side, but clean and functional. Rooms overlook the neighboring rooftops and flower boxes, but that's it for the view.
There's not much common space to speak of, but rooms are thoughtfully equipped with snacks, coffee, tea, and an electric tea kettle.

About the Ca Del Dose neighborhood
The largest of the six "sestieri", Castello is divided into Castello and Castello Alto. Castello Alto borders San Marco and is home to innumerable cheap sleeps as well as the Arsenale Naval Museum. The largely residential area doesn't boast much in the way of dining or nightlife, but its vicinity to San Marco and its overall convenient location makes Castello Alto a savvy alternative for budget-minded Cheapos.
