The Bernardi Semenzato is a family-run hotel conveniently situated on the border of Cannareggio and San Marco, minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Maria Teresa and her husband Leonardo have raised the Bernardi Semenzato like a child. And with 13th-century foundations and an early 19th-century expansion, that's a lot of tender loving care!

The entrance to this two-star hotel is cozy and packed with artwork and opera posters. The hotel’s 16 rooms are done up in fabulous antiques, with parquet floors, gilded mirrors and exposed wood-beamed ceilings. Artful additions include Murano glass lamps and artwork by talented family friends. Bathrooms, both shared and private, have been refurbished and include hand-painted tile work. All rooms are air-conditioned and non-smoking.

A small rooftop terrace offers postcard-perfect views of the neighborhood, and is a perfect spot for a summertime aperitivo.

One block away, the Bernardi Semenzato offers 12 newly renovated and spacious guest rooms in its annex. These rooms, attractively outfitted with classic Venetian furnishings, open to the building’s garden and are quite a bit fancier than those back in the hotel.
