The Hotel Minerva & Nettuno is a sweet one-star pick, offering a range of accommodation options along the Rio Terà Lista di Spagna, just minutes from the train station. The 30-room hotel caters to a variety of travelers and budgets. As the owner Nemo explained it: The more euros you shell out, the more amenities await you. Nemo speaks the truth!
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Easy location.
Cons: Can pick up street noise. No air conditioning in the cheapest rooms. No elevator.
Rooms at the Hotel Minerva e Nettuno come in two types. The “SR” rooms are the super-cheapo option. They come with basic wooden furniture, a sink and a fan (no air conditioning).
“CR” rooms are a bit more expensive and offer more facilities. Although there is a distinct ‘70s look to them (beige tile alert!), these rooms also have a healthy dose of charm, with paintings hanging on the walls, Murano-style chandeliers and some attractive carved wooden furniture. They’re also equipped with air conditioning, a safe, satellite TV and telephone.
Things get even fancier in the annex across the street, where warm and elegant rooms feature wood-beamed ceilings, Venetian-tiled floors, velvet headboards and a touch of “old English parlor.” These rooms run for about €130 per double in high season (which is not off the Cheapo charts for that time of year).
SR rooms share facilities, while CR rooms, and all rooms in the annex, offer private bathrooms.
A Mediterranean breakfast is included in the room rate. Wi-Fi is available (additional charges may apply). Note that the hotel is three stories and does not have an elevator.
Reserving at the Hotel Minerva e Nettuno

About the Hotel Minerva e Nettuno neighborhood
Situated north and west of the train station, Cannaregio provides some of the city's cheapest sleeps and eats. It's the most navigable "sestiere" in the city and by far the most convenient area from which to explore Venice. Adjacent to the train station on one end and bordering San Marco at the Rialto Bridge on the other, here you’ll find the Jewish Ghetto and some of Venice’s finest palaces, among them the breathtaking Ca d’ Oro.
