Cheap hotels near Accademia Gallery in Venice, Italy
Situated off the southern end of the Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro district, the Accademia Gallery is a museum of pre 19th-century art. Founded in 1750, it was named after the Accademia Bridge that leads from its front door to the Campo Santo Stefano.
Accademia’s main galleries house a collection of Venetian, Byzantine, Gothic and Renaissance art. The museum is open on Mondays from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from Tuesday to Sunday from 8:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Note that as of early 2012, parts of the Accademia were closed to the public due to construction. Check the gallery's Web site for more details and for admission charges.
