In the same building as the Hotel Pension Corvinus, the Haydn has more of a big city ambiance than its neighbor. Commercial energy from the Mariahilferstrasse below filters up to the hotel, giving it a busy if distant feel. It offers a fair value for guests who can restrain themselves from spending too much on the hotel's amenities, many of which cost extra.
Views from some of the 50 rooms are impressive, overlooking the Neubaugasse metro stop and Mariahilferstrasse itself. That proximity (the Haydn is only two stories up) makes the Haydn's soundproof windows a necessity. Solo travelers take note: singles here are considerably smaller and darker than doubles. All have ample en suite bathrooms, mostly with showers.
Because the hotel seems geared to business, there's a nickel-and-diming aspect to many of the services. Wireless and air conditioning (€12!) are both available at a price, and the hotel's shuttle to Schwechat runs a budget-unfriendly €30. |
