Located on the unbridled shopping frenzy that is Mariahilferstrasse, the family-owned Hotel Arian projects an air of haughty calm.
Think of the Arian as a mountain chalet, providing respite from the craziness outside the front door. Head past the hushed lobby, with its sprawling oriental rug, and you’ll find 21 uniformly decorated rooms of average-to-spacious size. Rooms offer a yellow-green color scheme with cherry wood trim, and many overlook a quiet courtyard.
A relatively recent renovation by the owners has added a slate of four-star amenities, including wireless Internet, cable television, and keycard entry. The gleaming bathrooms have acres of marble and porcelain tubs.
While rates aren't quite as austere as the décor, they are at the low-end for a hotel of this quality so close to the attractions of central Vienna.

About the Arian neighborhood
Mariahilferstrasse is the flashy commercial "main drag" of Vienna. Located southwest of the Innere Stadt, the street is jammed with window shoppers, restaurants, and cafes. Step off the beaten path and you'll find pleasant local spots—at least until you get to the four lane Gürtel, which provides an unpleasant border to the area. The Westbahnhof train station lies at the very southwestern edge of this district.
