The two-star family-run Pension Kraml is easily the best value of our Vienna listings. It offers an experience superior to that offered by many three- and even four-star properties. The Kraml family (a nice looking bunch, we might add!) lives in the same building as the pension, and family members are on permanent call. On a quiet side street a short downhill walk from Mariahilferstrasse, Pension Kraml is just far enough from the fray to feel quiet, but close enough to feel vibrant and urban.

Rooms are available with shared or private bathrooms, and range from singles to quaint family apartments. Clean, well-outfitted (some rooms even have flat-screen televisions) and very quiet, rooms overlook Pension Kraml's courtyard and garden.

The spectacular breakfast room, next door to the pension, was converted from a former restaurant. Many of the original fixtures—including beer taps, countertops, and cozy booths—remain. Wholly unexpected treats, these details are exactly the kind of delightful flourish that makes Pension Kraml such a find.
