Cheap hotels near Museum of Design in Zurich, Switzerland

With its main location in the Langstrasse, Zurich’s edgy Red Light District neighborhood, the city’s famed Museum of Design is a must-visit. The collection is housed out of a jaw-dropping, rectangular building that is itself a marvel of modern design.

Founded in 1875, when it was housed in Zurich’s School of Arts & Crafts, the museum today maintains several galleries and touts itself as a “celebration of graphic design,” displaying posters, pop culture objects and more.

The collection is mighty substantial, so you’ll want to take your time with it. The pop culture poster collection alone has reached 33,000 items. And the museum’s design collection includes tens of thousands of 20th century items, from cans of popular food brands, to ceramics, musical instruments, hair dryers and even watering cans.

The Museum of Design is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (closed on Mondays). For more information, visit the Design Museum’s site.
