One of Bruges’ well-known hostels, the Lybeer Travellers’ Hostel offers the barest of basic rooms at decent rates. Located just west of central Bruges (next door to the Groenighe Hotel), the Lybeer has a welcoming vibe.
Rooms feature bright pops of primary colors and perhaps a brick accent wall, but are otherwise pretty plain. The single rooms (with shared bathrooms) offer a small space to rest your head if you don't want to stay in one of the dorms.
Lybeer is located in a 19th-century family residence, which lends the hostel some warm old-fashioned touches. The hostel provides a guest kitchen and dining room for its guests, along with a TV room and bar area, where everyone hangs out and pulls out their laptops.
Younger guests will especially appreciate the fun activities the Lybeer plans nightly. For example, the week we visited kicked things off with Monday’s “Adam Sandler Movie Night” and culminated in Saturday’s “Stuff Yourself with Pasta” fest (with a beer pong championship along the way!). In other words, it’s a collegiate dream.

Location: Very central
0.2km to city centerMarkt ("Market Square"), Bruges’ central square, is the heart of the town. Even if you don’t stay near the Markt, you’ll most likely spend a good deal of time here. The square is lined with cafes and restaurants, and anchored by the city's famous belfry tower.
One minute to the east is Burg, the town square, home to Bruge's town hall. The area boasts many of the city’s most important museums and historic sights, including the Groeninge and the various Bruggemuseums. Chocolatiers, jewelers, and restaurateurs draw tourists in as well. Markt Square is the place to go if you want to catch a horse-drawn cab, although we can't promise that the ride will be cheap.
