City Hotel Pilvax

The three-star City Hotel Pilvax is perched on a quiet pedestrian street off of the bustling Váci utca. Part of the modern Taverna Hotels & Resorts chain, it features numerous amenities at reasonable rates.

The hotel’s 32 rooms are functional, and recent updates make things feel fresh. Light, functional tables made of balsa wood blend in with pale blue or beige walls. Some rooms feature eye-catching yellow headboards and herringbone wood blanks that run from the floor to the walls. The amenities are noteworthy: All rooms are equipped with radio, satellite TV and air conditioning.

Additional pluses include a hearty buffet breakfast, laundry service and 24-hour reception. And, the Pilvax was the only hotel we visited with its own outdoor café.

The Pilvax is within a 10-minute walk of the Hungarian National Musuem, the Central Synagogue, and the Inner City Parish Church. Metro stops are easily accessed.
