Cheap hotels in Center: Old Town, Dresden
Dresden's Altstadt (Old Town) is situated just south of Elbe River. It's beating heart is the Schlossplatz featuring a castle and a church (currently undergoing renovations from World War II bombings).
The Albertinum on Salzgasse is the place to find Dresden's art gems. The Frauenkirche reopened in 2005 and is considered a favorite local attraction. Dresden's central train station is at the southern end of the neighhborhood in Wiener Platz.
