Cheap hotels near Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, France

In 1559, the grieving Queen and widow Catherine de Medicis (the late wife of France’s King Henry II), decided she needed a change and moved into the Louvre Palace. But she wanted a garden to go with her new residence. So, the Jardin des Tuileries (“Tuileries Garden”) was planted.

In 1667, the gardens were first opened to the public. Later, Marie Antoinette restricted public access to the gardens to the afternoons, and still maintained her own private portion.

Today the garden is a must visit, and open only to pedestrians. Free of cars and commotion, the garden is a respite from an otherwise buzzing city. There’s a carousel for children, plenty of places to relax and people-watch, gorgeous classical statues and meticulous landscaping. The large fountains attract children (and their toy sailboats) on warm days. Take a stroll, daydream or grab some lunch from one of the food kiosks.

On the terrace of the garden’s Orangerie, you can view four Rodin sculptures, too. It’s no wonder with all it has to offer, and its proximity to so many Parisian landmarks, the Tuileries is on the list of the Project for Public Spaces “Best Parks in the World”.

Hotels near Jardin des Tuileries: On this page you’ll see our recommended hotels that are closest to the Tuileries Gardens. Most of these are found in the area just north of the park, and, by extension, are also quite close to the Louvre. There are also many cheap hotels to be found in the neighborhoods on the opposite side of the Seine, in St. Germain des Prés.

Regardless, staying in a hotel anywhere near the Jardin des Tuileries will put you not only close to the garden and Louvre, but to all of central Paris. If you’re a walker, you may not even need to ever take the Metro!
