Original Review:

Planted at the quiet end of the rue de l'Exposition, the Hôtel de la Tour Eiffel is a two-star charmer with 24 rooms near the Eiffel Tower, the Champ de Mars and the bustling market-lined Rue Cler.

The sweet Hotel de la Tour Eiffel is a solid pick, with renovated guest rooms, friendly owners, and a location about five minutes from the famous tower. Rates can sometimes dip to make this a good deal for the neighborhood.

The décor in the guestrooms is quite smart, with attractive textile wall coverings in purple and gray, framed antique prints, old-fashioned cabinetry, and windows opening to either the street (with flower boxes) or the back garden (our favorite, as it’s bright but quiet). All rooms are equipped with a telephone, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi.

Bathrooms are small but very clean and bright, with both showers and bathtubs.

Downstairs, the lobby is likewise attractive, with fresh-cut flowers, black leather club chairs, and shelves of thick red books. Note that the hotel does have an elevator.

Aside from the famous nearby tour, er “tower,” two blocks away is the famous Rue Cler, a market street that buzzes with small merchants selling their cheeses, wines, meats, baguettes, and more. There are innumerable options for eating and drinking. Overall, the area is very safe, quiet and calm at night—which means that you’ll probably head elsewhere in the evening to find activities.
