Hôtel Eiffel Rive Gauche

This convent-turned-hotel near the Eiffel Tower with warmly decorated rooms is a good option if you can find a lower rate. Depending on when you book, the price can be very right for such an appealing location. Plus, some rooms have tower views.

Situated on the tranquil rue du Gros Caillou, the three-star Hotel Eiffel Rive Gauche offers simple and standard rooms at rates that can be among the cheapest in the neighborhood — depending on when you book. In summer, rooms average around €225 per night, but in the low season, rates drop to about €120.

Indeed, the big draw here is location. And, true to its name, the hotel has four (highly coveted!) rooms with views of the Eiffel Tower (request these well in advance).

As for the actual rooms, well… let’s just say that the hotel used to be a convent. (We’re serious.) Rooms are small, only around 108 square feet, but they’re clean and will do the trick for unfussy travelers. Dressed in burgundy and golden hues, they offer desks, a fan, flat-screen television and telephone. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.

The renovated bathrooms have marble sinks and hair dryers. Most are equipped with showers, although bathtubs are available.

Half of the rooms open to the hotel’s courtyard, which is painted in a sunny yellow wash and furnished with bistro tables. Everything else is pretty cute and tight, from the small winding stairwell to the (typically) tiny elevator.

A buffet breakfast is available for €14, although the neighborhood has no shortage of small cafes and patisseries where you can find a cheaper meal.
