Cheap hotels near Place St-Michel in Paris, France

Situated smack dab in the middle of Paris, Place St-Michel is one of the city’s biggest and busiest squares. Located where Boulevard St-Michel meets the Seine, right across from Ile de la Cité, it also marks the intersection of the 5th and 6th arrondissements -- a transition point from the student-filled (and very touristy) bohemia of the Latin Quarter to the fancy and fashionable (with prices to match) St-Germain des Prés.

The square is presided over by the Fontaine St-Michel, a massive fountain that depicts the Archangel Michael. Finished in 1860 by the architect Gabriel Davoud, the fountain is a common meeting place, as it is centrally located and almost impossible to miss.

Place St-Michel is located a short walk (and a quick bridge) from Notre Dame and within walking distance of many of the city’s most famous sights. It has a Metro station that serves line four and the nearby RER station, Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, provides direct access to Charles de Gaulle airport.

Cheap hotels near Place St-Michel: Close to both the Latin Quarter and St-Germain, Place St-Michel boasts an abundant number of budget accommodations in close proximity. One of our favorites, the funky Hotel Esmeralda, is just a few blocks east, and offers views across the Seine to Notre Dame. A more conventional pick, the Hotel du Suez, is located along the Boulevard St-Michel, just south of the Place.
