Cheap hotels near Palatine Hill in Rome, Italy
Palatine Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome, located near the Roman Forum, Circus Maximus and Colosseum. According to legend, twins Romulus and Remus were found in a cave on the hill by a she-wolf that nursed them to health. And thus began the city of Rome...
Touring the grounds here, travelers can hypothesize about the various origins of the Eternal City. Some think Augustus, the first Emperor of Rome, was born here. One building on the hill is believed to be the house of Livia, Augustus’ wife. The Palatine has also been called “the original town of Rome.” The temple of Cybele still stands, but is not open to the public.
Hotels near Palatine Hill: Obviously, you won’t find any budget hotels on the hill proper. The hotels listed below can be found just north near the Colosseum, and across the river in Trastevere. Both areas are reasonably priced, and still well within range of major tourist attractions.
