The largest commuter rail hub and intercity train station in New York City, Pennsylvania Station (“Penn Station”) serves 300,000 passengers a day. It’s the busiest train station in North America with train service provided by New Jersey Transit, the Long Island Railroad, Amtrak and the New York City subway.
Penn Plaza, the complex of office buildings containing the station, runs between 31st and 33rd Streets (from Seventh to Eighth Avenue) in Midtown Manhattan. Here, travelers can easily reach any number of subway lines, grab a cab outside or catch an Amtrak train headed out of the city.
Madison Square Garden, the city’s largest sports arena, sits atop Pennsylvania Station. While these can occasionally be convenient, it can lead to incredible crowds during major sporting events and concerts.
