Cheap hotels near Times Square in New York, United States
If you’ve ever watched the ball drop on New Year’s Eve, you’re aware of the hoopla centered around Times Square in Midtown Manhattan. Times Square is considered the city’s intersection of culture and commerce, surrounded by big-name retailers, theaters and restaurants.
Times Square was named after the New York Times, which had moved its offices to the intersection of 42nd Street and Broadway 100 years ago. (Today the paper is headquartered nearby on 8th Avenue.)
In 2009, much to the delight of tourists and locals, the city declared a significant portion of Times Square a pedestrian-only zone, complete with tables and chairs for lounging.
The square offers close proximity to many city attractions, including the theater district, Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building. For more information, check out: http://www.timessquarenyc.org/
